Because average is not acceptable, for years, athletes and movie stars have been hiring coaches and personal trainers to bring their performance to an outstanding level. In the last few years, they even have started to hire “mind” coaches because so much of our external performance depends on what’s going on inside our head. Tiger Woods hired a “swing” coach; Michael Jordan, a “shooting” coach; Anthony Hopkins, a “success coach” - imagine that!

Coaching is not limited to athletes and movie stars. It is for anyone who wants to achieve great goals. Goals that appear to be out of reach. Important goals! Goals that seem to take to long to accomplish! Goals that seem to be kept away for perceived obstacles or situations that are difficult to overcome!

But, why hire a life coach? A qualified coach will help you ACHIEVE. PERIOD! If only for that reason alone! Do you have a goal, or an idea of something you would like to accomplish, to have, to do, to become; or do you need a silent partner, an equal partner to cheer you along, to help you unleash that magnificent Power Within yourself so you can achieve? Do you have a need for faster results (sometimes it is like magic)? Are there obstacles and fears? Do you need someone to bounce ideas off, no matter how silly they might seem to you? Would you be interested in being able to achieve a far more and faster for yourself and for your family?

You’d ask me: “How does this work?” The most efficient way is to do this over the phone and by email. First, it takes away geographical barriers. (I currently coach someone in the UK!) It can also be done on your time, sometimes early morning, other times at night, on weekends, or anytime you can set up with your coach. A confidential relationship develops between you and your coach. That relationship is non-judgmental, and finally, as a doctor, you have someone you can talk to. Yes, you have someone you can talk to!

Contrary to a consultant, a coach becomes your partner in your goal; a confidential partner where YOU are the important person. YOU are the one who decides which goal you are going to pursue. YOU are the one who decides what to do. YOU are the ONE! The coach will give you different perspectives, different views, looking at the situation from a different angle, and keep you accountable to your decisions. He or she will not tell you what to do, nor what you should do. Together, you will decide. But, all the focus will be on YOU, to move YOU forward in your life, no matter the past.

But, it can be expensive, some tell me. Yes, that is right. If you hire the best, it will be more expensive, like anything else. Also, like anything else, it can be TOO EXPENSIVE! If in the past, you bought some exercise equipment, no matter the price, and you never used it, it was too expensive! Same here! I you hire a coach, and never participate or do anything with it, it is too expensive. I’ve had some doctor clients who told me after a few months of coaching that I was not charging enough (even though I charge a lot). All this because their Return on Investment was much greater than they expected!
